Fecha Libre's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Acratas Unidos the free kick. When Severiano Ruy fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fecha Libre's protests and gave Severiano Ruy a yellow card for diving instead. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zeledon Orland was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes, Desiderio Cedro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Acratas Unidos and the Fecha Libre players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Acratas Unidos getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Desiderio Cedro hit a great ball. 53 minutes into the match, Acratas Unidos's goal looked a bit too open when Eugenio Tome came free, but Evelio Gines reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rolando Medina received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Evelio Gines was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Fecha Libre fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Acratas Unidos were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
