German Lizer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hector Jakes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomás Aznar in the 12th minute of the match. German Lizer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reynaldo Elodio in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Paulo Raitin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. LOS MENTI's German Lizer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Bibiano in the 23rd minute of play. In the 26th minute, Reynaldo Elodio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. If Paulo Raitin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With 36 minutes on the clock, Baldomiro Manex commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 37th match minute, CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baldomiro Manex to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the game, LOS MENTI's Luis Ubelteso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hector Jakes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulo Raitin got free with German Lizer in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 55 minutes in the game, Paulo Raitin dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Reynaldo Elodio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rigoberto Beltza in the 64th minute of play forced LOS MENTI's goalkeeper German Lizer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute, Reynaldo Elodio made a precise shot to the right of German Lizer. LOS MENTI's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Tomás Aznar hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. German Lizer was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Reynaldo Elodio. In the 81st match minute, CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iker Steven to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, LOS MENTI's German Lizer got control of the ball when Paulo Raitin tried to sneak it across the goal line. 95 minutes into the game, Feliberto Benino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-5. Hector Jakes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
