The referee ignored Gimnasia y tiro's protests and gave Teodoro Aznaro a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Gimnasia y tiro getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Teodoro Aznaro hit a great ball. Gimnasia y tiro's Silvio Dei proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Gimnasia y tiro from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Gimnasia y tiro's Manuel Arano got a free kick in the 24th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernesto Urtsua in the 26th minute of play forced Gimnasia y tiro's goalkeeper Silvio Dei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vladimiro Ondino hit a great ball. In the 30th minute Ernesto Urtsua shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvio Dei saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Maravilla's Ernesto Urtsua slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Silvio Dei. That made the score 1-0 after 31 minutes of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ernesto Urtsua in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Silvio Dei saved Gimnasia y tiro from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ovidio Cutberto during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ovidio Cutberto hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Vladimiro Ondino kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. After 46 played minutes Maravilla got a freekick which was hit by Vladimiro Ondino.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Segundo Marin made a kick off. During the 61st minute of the match Ovidio Cutberto completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Ovidio Cutberto a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 61st minute, Ovidio Cutberto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 63 minutes in the game Teodoro Aznaro did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Nicolas Blai. After 68 minutes, Zeledon Danel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maravilla and the Gimnasia y tiro players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Maravilla's Zeledon Danel got a free kick in the 87th minute. If Diego Nesor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 played minutes Maravilla got a freekick which was hit by Enzo Martinez. 95 minutes into the match, Maravilla's Enzo Martinez broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Many of Gimnasia y tiro's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Gimnasia y tiro may have spent more time on the ball, but Maravilla were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
