The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fabian Hats hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. La Gallardeta's Oscar Loreto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save La Gallardeta from getting a goal against them. 6 minutes into the game, Maravilla's Ernesto Urtsua nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Oscar Loreto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Oscar Loreto didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 9th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. After having played for 14 minutes, Miguel Birila managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. La Gallardeta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Birila was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 17th minute, Ernesto Urtsua made a precise shot to the right of Oscar Loreto. La Gallardeta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tiburcio Domiku during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tiburcio Domiku hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Gerónimo Rulli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Birila in the 25th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Zeledon Danel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Maravilla's zone, Serafin Romelio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerónimo Rulli came out of the goal and Serafin Romelio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. La Gallardeta's Oscar Loreto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Urtsua in the 30th minute of play. The supporters of La Gallardeta booed when Maravilla was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeledon Danel didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Miguel Birila to make the kick off. After 58 played minutes La Gallardeta got a freekick which was hit by Serafin Romelio. Cornelio Arlo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Oscar Loreto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute, Miguel Birila hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ernesto Urtsua's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Oscar Loreto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Maravilla's Enzo Martinez got a free kick in the 88th minute. Cornelio Arlo's late challenge caught a La Gallardeta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cornelio Arlo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 93rd match minute, Maravilla was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cornelio Arlo to maneuver through the defense.
