The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Filomeno Isusko's late challenge caught a Los Irrompibles's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Filomeno Isusko helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th minute, Filomeno Isusko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 22 played minutes Imperio Académico got a freekick which was hit by Pastor Aimar. Anacleto Hulberto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gavino Cefero, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Hector Gonza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Justino Inko having to interfere. Anacleto Hulberto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gavino Cefero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Justino Inko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Bernabel in the 33rd minute of play. The supporters of Los Irrompibles booed when Imperio Académico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gogo Frasquito didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 36th match minute, Los Irrompibles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Generoso Berbiz to maneuver through the defense. A sloppy throw-in by Filomeno Isusko in the 41st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Los Irrompibles's Pablo Cordarrel. Justino Inko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudio Bernabel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Claudio Bernabel made a kick off. Imperio Académico's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Gavino Cefero 53 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-1. Claudio Bernabel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 68 minutes into the match, Imperio Académico's goal looked a bit too open when Gavino Cefero came free, but Anacleto Hulberto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Justino Inko came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Imperio Académico's Claudio Bernabel. But to his dismay, Claudio Bernabel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Imperio Académico's zone, Generoso Berbiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anacleto Hulberto came out of the goal and Generoso Berbiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anacleto Hulberto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gavino Cefero in the 76th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Hector Gonza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Imperio Académico's supporters rose to their feet, but Hector Gonza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Justino Inko breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Justino Inko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudio Bernabel, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After 93 played minutes Los Irrompibles got a freekick which was hit by Generoso Berbiz. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Claudio Bernabel managed to get in a good position for a shot.
