Eleuterio Cucao charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eleuterio Cucao the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Italia booed when Chivos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eleuterio Cucao didn't get a good kick on the ball. 20 minutes into the game, Italia's Jairo Fidensio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Esteve Florinio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 24th minute Faustino Ralondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Esteve Florinio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnoldo Baleren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 32nd minute, Mateo Omero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Italia's Arnoldo Baleren got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Italia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ramon Montes was slow to take the kick. During this time Chivos's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Elias Llorienzo heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Higinio Loramendi made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Ulises Garin sent off a good shot on target. Chivos's Esteve Florinio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cesar Benat in the 44th minute of play. Italia's Jairo Fidensio got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Chivos players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Italia were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ulises Garin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Higinio Loramendi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elias Llorienzo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Chivos's Arnulfo Gaztea got a free kick in the 58th minute. After 60 minutes of play Chivos's Eleuterio Cucao was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Dionisio Peruxu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esteve Florinio having to interfere. Cesar Benat's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Esteve Florinio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. After 70 minutes, Faustino Ralondo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Italia and the Chivos players grew even worse after the yellow card. Chivos's Esteve Florinio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Faustino Ralondo in the 77th minute of play. Arnoldo Baleren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chivos were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
