The supporters of Liechtenstein City booed when Holfenhein was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elias Güthoff didn't get a good kick on the ball. Seyhan Brunner was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 3rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dario Eusebius in the 6th minute of play forced Holfenhein's goalkeeper Ulrich Haas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 13 minutes into the game, Gökhan Erne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Liechtenstein City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Holfenhein the free kick. Gökhan Erne hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. José Büchel took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ralf Hamazic. Ralf Hamazic dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Daniel Reichlin struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Ulrich Haas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liechtenstein City. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Reichlin in the 20th minute of play forced Holfenhein's goalkeeper Ulrich Haas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Holfenhein's goal looked a bit too open when Dario Eusebius came free, but Ulrich Haas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26th match minute, Liechtenstein City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Seyhan Brunner to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Holfenhein's Benjamin Hörmann got a free kick in the 31st minute. Holfenhein's Muhammet Cakir couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 37th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Liechtenstein City. Ralf Hamazic made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Büchel in the 43rd minute. Ralf Hamazic took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Büchel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Reichlin to make the kick off. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 76 minutes into the game, Wolf Hanselmann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ralf Hamazic stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Büchel's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. 82 minutes into the match, Liechtenstein City's goal looked a bit too open when José Büchel came free, but Ralf Hamazic reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that José Büchel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ralf Hamazic was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. The Holfenhein fans' excitement grew in the 85th match minute when Holfenhein's José Büchel looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 89 minutes of play, Holfenhein's José Büchel made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net.
