Saturnino Arraya showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Montrel Sobrado in the 10th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Claudinei Ruich got a free kick in the 12th minute. Ur Cribell hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Rene Higuita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lesardo Gaztañondo, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. When Nuxila Urrejola fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Criciúma Esporte Clube's protests and gave Nuxila Urrejola a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Sabaneta FC booed when Criciúma Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuxila Urrejola didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute, Gaspard Villarias ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rene Higuita was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Sabaneta FC's Pedroso Alvaredo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rene Higuita. That made the score 2-0 after 29 minutes of play. In the 33rd minute Lesardo Gaztañondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rene Higuita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rene Higuita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedroso Alvaredo, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 41st minute, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Claudinei Ruich seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Claudinei Ruich the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Criciúma Esporte Clube protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Claudinei Ruich had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 41 played minutes Criciúma Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei Ruich. Saturnino Arraya showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nuxila Urrejola in the 47th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Rene Higuita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedroso Alvaredo in the 59th minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, Criciúma Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Lesardo Gaztañondo came free, but Rene Higuita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 61 minutes into the game, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Nuxila Urrejola nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Saturnino Arraya made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1.
