The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee ignored Buenaventura FC's protests and gave Alejandro Lao a yellow card for diving instead. Alejandro Lao kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Franklin Smith took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gabriel Abar. Gabriel Abar dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 31st minute Alejandro Lao shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Abar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gabriel Abar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Franklin Smith's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. The supporters of Munat Tayka booed when Buenaventura FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Posam didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 41 minutes, Franklin Smith managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buenaventura FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franklin Smith was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bernabe Abeita lost his temper 43 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Bernabe Abeita kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The referee felt a red card was in order, 51 minutes into the game, when Rafael Posam put in a rough tackle. The referee gave Munat Tayka a penalty, 53 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Mauricio Abellaneda, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Buenaventura FC's Joe Oberto. 1-1. A collision led to Buenaventura FC getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Franklin Smith hit a great ball. Franklin Smith sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Buenaventura FC's zone, Cucao Abendano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joe Oberto came out of the goal and Cucao Abendano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Buenaventura FC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Felipe Gil hit a great ball. In the 77th minute Mauricio Abellaneda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joe Oberto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 85 minutes, Rolando Pinilla mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Buenaventura FC and the Munat Tayka players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 85th match minute, Buenaventura FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rolando Pinilla to maneuver through the defense. Gabriel Abar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franklin Smith, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. After a rather tough play, Buenaventura FC's Alejandro Lao got a free kick in the 94th minute. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
