An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilco Owusu Abeyie in the 18th minute of play forced Albertus FC's goalkeeper Ger Tollenaar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frits Platvoet could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Jan-Joost Smeekes made a huge save. With his leg Jan-Joost Smeekes managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Albertus FC's Hubert Ottens fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jan-Joost Smeekes made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Frits Platvoet sent off a good shot on target. In the 41st minute Ferdi Merenga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan-Joost Smeekes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Albertus FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1.
