In the 6th minute, Koos Staal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, De Ontembare Leeuwen's Dries Zevenhuizen got a free kick in the 10th minute. Gerard Krijnenburg took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 11th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jan Sibon. De Ontembare Leeuwen's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, De Ontembare Leeuwen's goal looked a bit too open when Govert Teunisse came free, but Jan Sibon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the De Ontembare Leeuwen defense, Gerard Krijnenburg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jan Sibon. The De Ontembare Leeuwen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jan Sibon should have stopped the shot. Jan Sibon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Govert Teunisse in the 23rd minute of play. Jeffrey Siemers was out of position in the 25 minute of play, and Elco Mulders capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Elco Mulders really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Jan Sibon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan Klasens, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 33 minutes into the game, Rein Uebels was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. De Ontembare Leeuwen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bierunese the free kick. If Jan Klasens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 37 minutes into the game, Gerard Krijnenburg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Jan Sibon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jan Sibon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willem Gentenaar, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. De Ontembare Leeuwen's Jan Sibon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Willem Gentenaar in the 44th minute of play. Jan Sibon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Govert Teunisse went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Govert Teunisse got free with Jan Sibon in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Koos Staal in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jeffrey Siemers saved Bierunese from getting behind. Govert Teunisse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Elco Mulders received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Jeffrey Siemers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 74th minute, Koos Staal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Bierunese booed when De Ontembare Leeuwen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Koos Staal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jan Klasens hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. When Koos Staal came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the De Ontembare Leeuwen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Koos Staal couldn't finish the play. Rinus Ronde charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rinus Ronde the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, De Ontembare Leeuwen's Rinus Ronde got a free kick in the 91st minute. After having played for 92 minutes, Gerard Krijnenburg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bierunese's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerard Krijnenburg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
