An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Carlos de Azevedo in the 27th minute of play forced Grêmio Bulls's goalkeeper Virgílio da Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Independente FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Inácio Pinheiro hit a great ball. With a little luck, Grêmio Bulls's Virgílio da Rocha got control of the ball when Zé Carlos de Azevedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Zé Carlos de Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independente FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Carlos de Azevedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Virgílio da Rocha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Virgílio da Rocha was a little too slow when Zé Carlos de Azevedo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 40th minute. The score was now 1-1. Virgílio da Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Carlos de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Zé Carlos de Azevedo made the kick off in the second half. Virgílio da Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Carlos de Azevedo in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Grêmio Bulls's Fausto Miranda ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nestor Quintal. Nestor Quintal yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. After 62 played minutes Grêmio Bulls got a freekick which was hit by João Vítor Vergílio. 66 minutes into the match, Zé Carlos de Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Virgílio da Rocha. Grêmio Bulls's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zé Carlos de Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Zé Carlos de Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Independente FC booed when Grêmio Bulls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerson de Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute, Gerson de Barros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 79 minutes, Germano Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independente FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Germano Araújo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 83rd match minute, Independente FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilmar Rosa to maneuver through the defense. For all the effort they put into the match, the Grêmio Bulls players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Independente FC.
