Corinthians Paulista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank dos Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Corinthians Paulista fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luiz Fernando Figueiredo should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Grêmio Prudente had won after a very even match.
