In the 6th minute Falcão Nóbrega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Renato Velloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Naldo de Alcântara took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Paulo Renato Velloso to make any attempt to save it. In the 15th minute, Joélson Donatello fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Paulo Renato Velloso, passed just outside the right post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ivo Pernambucano during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The Atlético Minuano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulo Renato Velloso should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, Atlético Minuano's Paulo Renato Velloso got control of the ball when Geovani Vieira tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 36th minute, Dedê Fernandes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 40 minutes into the match, Atlético Minuano's goalkeeper Paulo Renato Velloso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joélson Donatello. In the 41st match minute, Atlético Minuano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cláudio Moreno to maneuver through the defense. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The audience was convinced that Falcão Nóbrega's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulo Renato Velloso was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. But to his dismay, Geovani Vieira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Jairo Vasconcelos's late challenge caught a Rio Verde F.C CIMZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jairo Vasconcelos helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Rio Verde F.C CIMZ booed when Atlético Minuano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jairo Vasconcelos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Renato Velloso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joélson Donatello went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 8-0 was the resulting score. Paulo Renato Velloso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Germano Domingues in the 88th minute of the match. Hugo Loyola kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. After 92 played minutes, Rio Verde F.C CIMZ's Germano Domingues shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Paulo Renato Velloso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rio Verde F.C CIMZ reached it. Cleiton Cosme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rio Verde F.C CIMZ's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
