Afonso Baiano started the match with the kick off. A collision led to Club Athletico Paulistano getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Tiago Rodrigues hit a great ball. Luizão Cardozo hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Luís Fernando Barros sped through Club Athletico Paulistano's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Breno Baptista. In the 15thth minute of the game Luís Fernando Barros who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Athletico Paulistano's Breno Baptista was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Club Athletico Paulistano's zone, Marcelo Alagoano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Breno Baptista came out of the goal and Marcelo Alagoano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Horácio Ceresso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Club Athletico Paulistano's Gernando Montenegro got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Virgílio Travassos kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 24 minutes into the game, when Arí Lucas put in a rough tackle. In the 25th minute, Arí Lucas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Breno Baptista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Ramos, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Manuel Pena kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Villa Verde FC's Marcelo Alagoano couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Club Athletico Paulistano. If Horácio Ceresso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Club Athletico Paulistano players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Villa Verde FC were winning 0-1.

The supporters of Club Athletico Paulistano booed when Villa Verde FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelo Alagoano didn't get a good kick on the ball. 55 minutes into the match, Yan Travassos notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Villa Verde FC's Igor Camargo. Igor Camargo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Horácio Ceresso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breno Baptista having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Antônio Carlos Madureira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Villa Verde FC's Igor Camargo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manfredo Bertassi in the 66th minute of play. In the 69th minute Sérgio Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Igor Camargo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Luís Fernando Barros took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Breno Baptista to make any attempt to save it. Yan Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Igor Camargo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 85 minutes into the game, one of Club Athletico Paulistano:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Breno Baptista, was totally fooled by Villa Verde FC's Marcelo Alagoano, who 88 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The Club Athletico Paulistano supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Villa Verde FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Villa Verde FC.
