In the 27th match minute, Guarani Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernani de Lima to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Guarani Futebol Clube's zone, Pedro Paulo Paraíba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacinto Tavares came out of the goal and Pedro Paulo Paraíba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Calesso FC's Walmyr Bezerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Egídio Fernandes in the 38th minute of play. Hermínio Vergílio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Jacinto Tavares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Guarani Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Jacinto Tavares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Paulo Paraíba to make the kick off. Vitinho Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Guarani Futebol Clube booed when Calesso FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorginho Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. A throw-in in the 79th minute of the game was made by Murillo Salles with Álvaro Gaúcho as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Guarani Futebol Clube's Jacinto Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermínio Vergílio in the 94th minute of play. Júlio Pernambucano's late challenge caught a Guarani Futebol Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Júlio Pernambucano helped the player get up and apologised. After 96 played minutes Calesso FC got a freekick which was hit by Júlio Pernambucano. Guarani Futebol Clube's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
