The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hamílton Terra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. José Paulo Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gabriel Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joãozinho Yver, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. José Paulo Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aírton Maciel in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 24th minute, Cido Paraense made a precise shot to the right of José Paulo Zonta. PIAUÍ FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in VARGINHA FC's zone, Joãozinho Yver stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gabriel Medeiros came out of the goal and Joãozinho Yver tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mateus Moreno in the 40th minute of play forced VARGINHA FC's goalkeeper Gabriel Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matheus Sá kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, VARGINHA FC's Denílson Vidal got a free kick in the 46th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

José Paulo Zonta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamílton Terra in the 51st minute of play. Flávio Mendonça charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Flávio Mendonça the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of VARGINHA FC booed when PIAUÍ FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flávio Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Paulo Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cido Paraense in the 60th minute of the match. José Paulo Zonta came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by VARGINHA FC's Hamílton Terra. But to his dismay, Hamílton Terra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. In the 75th minute, Luís Guilherme Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. VARGINHA FC's Gabriel Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mateus Moreno in the 78th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Cido Paraense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Paulo Zonta was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. VARGINHA FC's Gabriel Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mateus Moreno in the 81st minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, Aírton Maciel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Paulo Zonta. PIAUÍ FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aírton Maciel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. After a rather tough play, VARGINHA FC's Luís Guilherme Neves got a free kick in the 91st minute. VARGINHA FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
