If Fernando Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 6th minute Samuca Tróia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulão Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulão Negri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Márcio de Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sílvio Cordeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clemente Moreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Sílvio Cordeiro came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by CE LAJEADENSE RS's Luís de Lara. But to his dismay, Luís de Lara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The referee felt a red card was in order, 15 minutes into the game, when Cléber de Souza put in a rough tackle. A collision led to CE LAJEADENSE RS getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Cléber de Souza hit a great ball. 16 minutes into the match, CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Paulão Negri had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fabinho Sarmento. In the 18thth minute of the game Samuca Tróia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CE LAJEADENSE RS's Paulão Negri was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Váldson Berger recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luís de Lara kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Ekzema F.V.'s Fabinho Sarmento couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 26th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for CE LAJEADENSE RS. In the 29th minute Váldson Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Cordeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabinho Sarmento was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 30 minutes into the match. Váldson Berger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Cordeiro having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lauro Sergipano in the 36th minute of play forced Ekzema F.V.'s goalkeeper Sílvio Cordeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 38 minutes, Claudinei Arantes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ekzema F.V.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudinei Arantes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Afonsinho Valladares fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ekzema F.V.'s protests and gave Afonsinho Valladares a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ekzema F.V. getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Afonsinho Valladares hit a great ball. When the match had been going on for 44 minutes Márcio de Mendonça shot a great shot from long distance. It looked like a certain goal, but the audience witnessed a really smashing save by Paulão Negri when he caught the ball only just under the crossbar. After the first half CE LAJEADENSE RS were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 54 played minutes Ekzema F.V. got a freekick which was hit by Márcio de Mendonça. CE LAJEADENSE RS's Váldson Berger got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 57th minute, CE LAJEADENSE RS's Váldson Berger ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Sílvio Cordeiro. Sílvio Cordeiro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. In the 61st minute Daniel Bueno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulão Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 66 minutes, Samuca Tróia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ekzema F.V. and the CE LAJEADENSE RS players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of CE LAJEADENSE RS booed when Ekzema F.V. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuca Tróia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luís Gustavo Teles, 67 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Lauro Sergipano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Ekzema F.V. getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Márcio de Mendonça hit a great ball. Sílvio Cordeiro made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Lauro Sergipano sent off a good shot on target. If Fernando Batista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundo Gonçalves in the 91st minute of play forced Ekzema F.V.'s goalkeeper Sílvio Cordeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd minute Márcio de Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulão Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ekzema F.V. booed when CE LAJEADENSE RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dinei da Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Váldson Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match was over CE LAJEADENSE RS could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ekzema F.V. throughout the match.
