When Anselmo Furlan fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santos City's protests and gave Anselmo Furlan a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Santos City's Anselmo Furlan got a free kick in the 4th minute. When the match had gone on for 6 minutes, Anselmo Furlan took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Tales Siqueira to make any attempt to save it. The audience was convinced that José Fernandez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hílton Hermes was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. In the 12th minute, SeleSantos FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jânio Hermes fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Jânio Hermes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Tales Siqueira made a huge save. Adrianinho Catarinense kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Santos City's Hílton Hermes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelardo de Moraes in the 16th minute of play. Tales Siqueira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jânio Hermes's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. After 22 played minutes SeleSantos FC got a freekick which was hit by Eurico Prestes. SeleSantos FC's Tales Siqueira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save SeleSantos FC from getting a goal against them. In a very dangerous position, a player in Santos City fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 29th minute. Penalty! In the 30th minute there was a penalty for SeleSantos FC. Abelardo de Moraes stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Hílton Hermes. 1-1. A well-hit corner resulted in Arlindo Montenegro heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Through an outstanding action, after 38 minutes, Tales Siqueira successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Hílton Hermes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abelardo de Moraes in the 39th minute of play. If Anselmo Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Santos City booed when SeleSantos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelinho Teles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tales Siqueira acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 43rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Nuno de Barros. Hílton Hermes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelardo de Moraes, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Jânio Hermess short, quick shot in the 46thth minute got Tales Siqueira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.

After a defensive mix-up in SeleSantos FC's zone, Anselmo Furlan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tales Siqueira came out of the goal and Anselmo Furlan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jano Matorin kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. If Abelardo de Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute, SeleSantos FC's Abelardo de Moraes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. Tales Siqueira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anselmo Furlan in the 70th minute of the match. In the 73rd minute Jânio Hermes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tales Siqueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Anselmo Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nuno de Barros hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Santos City fans cheered their team off the field, for while SeleSantos FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
