But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jairo Barral couldn't finish the play. In the 21st minute, Alexandre da Cunha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rafa Borges was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. When Waldemar Maranhense fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PIRATAS TFP's protests and gave Waldemar Maranhense a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to PIRATAS TFP getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. João Paulo Rossi hit a great ball. Eurico de Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elano Toledo having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Cercadinho's Eugênio Rodrigues got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After 32 played minutes, PIRATAS TFP's Lucas Valladares shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rafa Borges came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in PIRATAS TFP reached it. In the 36th minute Nildo Toledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elano Toledo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rafa Borges showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucas Valladares, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Jairo Barral charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jairo Barral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 43rd minute, Jairo Barral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nildo Toledo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. It was a well-played corner which João Carlos Rosa managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 76 minutes into the game, Dito Donatello was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PIRATAS TFP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cercadinho the free kick. A collision led to PIRATAS TFP getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Dito Donatello hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexandre da Cunha during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
