Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Duda de Sousa ran back to his position shaking his head. After 13 played minutes Werneck FC - DMZ got a freekick which was hit by Tiago Freitas. Izaltina FAD's Diego Valladares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Izaltina FAD from getting a goal against them. In the 22nd minute Caco Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diego Valladares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Cristóvão Paranaense fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Izaltina FAD's protests and gave Cristóvão Paranaense a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th minute, Cristóvão Paranaense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Breno Zonta received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Diego Valladares came out and tried to block the shot, but Breno Zonta slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 46th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Werneck FC - DMZ's Zé Paulo Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristóvão Paranaense in the 61st minute of play. Zé Paulo Lara's late challenge caught a Izaltina FAD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zé Paulo Lara helped the player get up and apologised. After a defensive mix-up in Izaltina FAD's zone, Zé Paulo Lara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diego Valladares came out of the goal and Zé Paulo Lara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Werneck FC - DMZ's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
