Renatinho Linhares's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gino Britto firmly grabbed it by the left post. Renatinho Linhares blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gino Britto having to make a save. In the 38th minute, Naldo Guedes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gino Britto. The goal made the score 1-1. 46 minutes into the game, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Renatinho Linhares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gino Britto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
