Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Virgílio dos Santos in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aloísio Vargas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Aloísio Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurício Freitas in the 26th minute of play. Rui Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Perivaldo Valle in the 28th minute of play. 30 minutes into the game, Ian Abreu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rui Souto. Ian Abreu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Aloísio Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maurinho Aparecido in the 34th minute of play. Claudinei Neiva hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute Perivaldo Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Souto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rui Souto had great luck who in the 44thth minute grab hold of the ball when Perivaldo Valle from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Cruzeiro Esporte Clube made a substitution. Leonardo Porto replaced Cláudio Barral. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Virgílio dos Santos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Naldo Guedes made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rui Souto was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match clock showed 55 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Vicente Chaves sped through Arsenal MGK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rui Souto. In the 58th minute, Naldo Guedes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube made a substitution. Ramón Barbosa replaced Ian Abreu. Naldo Guedes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 66 minutes of play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Perivaldo Valle made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rui Souto was left in no man's land by his defense there! Rui Souto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Perivaldo Valle went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. Rui Souto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vicente Chaves's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. Arsenal MGK's Rui Souto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vicente Chaves in the 74th minute of play. After 85 minutes of play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Naldo Guedes made it 8-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net.
