A collision led to Vascogoianiense FC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Túlio Paes hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anderson Valladares in the 19th minute of play forced AFC - Curitiba's goalkeeper Edmílson Matos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edmílson Matos was out of position in the 20 minute of play, and Anderson Valladares capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Anderson Valladares really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. The supporters of Vascogoianiense FC booed when AFC - Curitiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luizão Ferraz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gugu Félix's late challenge caught a Vascogoianiense FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gugu Félix helped the player get up and apologised. After 25 played minutes AFC - Curitiba got a freekick which was hit by Gugu Félix. Dedê Valladares blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edmílson Matos having to make a save. Edmílson Matos came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Vascogoianiense FC's Dedê Valladares. But to his dismay, Dedê Valladares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. One of Vascogoianiense FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of AFC - Curitiba:s goal. Vascogoianiense FC:s Olavo Fonseca showed great skill when he stopped Luizão Ferraz:s penalty. 40 minutes into the game, Luizão Ferraz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Olavo Fonseca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee felt a red card was in order, 45 minutes into the game, when Waldir Faria put in a rough tackle. In the 45th minute, one of Vascogoianiense FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vascogoianiense FC. In the 48th minute there was a penalty for AFC - Curitiba. Luizão Ferraz stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Olavo Fonseca. 5-2. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anderson Valladares to make the kick off. Ulisses Cordeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. 55 minutes into the game, Lenílson Santos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-3. Olavo Fonseca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 60th minute, Agostinho Castro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 62 minutes into the game, Dedê Valladares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vascogoianiense FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AFC - Curitiba the free kick. In the 62nd match minute, Vascogoianiense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dedê Valladares to maneuver through the defense. Vascogoianiense FC's Olavo Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lenílson Santos in the 63rd minute of play. Olavo Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Conrado Damião, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edmílson Matos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anderson Valladares in the 79th minute of the match. In the 91st minute, Anderson Valladares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Anderson Valladares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmílson Matos having to interfere. Olavo Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lenílson Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Vascogoianiense FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of AFC - Curitiba for a fine match.
