In the 5th minute, Marquinhos Azevedo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ricart Futebol Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 11th minute, Cactos's Reinaldo Teles ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gugu Mendes. Gugu Mendes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrinho Cardoso in the 15th minute of play forced Cactos's goalkeeper Germano Bezerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Reinaldo Teles got free with Gugu Mendes in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ricart Futebol Clube's Gugu Mendes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Ricart Futebol Clube from getting a goal against them. Ricart Futebol Clube's Gugu Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Passos in the 20th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Marquinhos Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ricardinho Valle could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Gugu Mendes made a huge save. Reinaldo Teles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Gugu Mendes made a huge save. Ricart Futebol Clube's Gugu Mendes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Ricart Futebol Clube from getting a goal against them. In the 34th minute, Reinaldo Teles made a precise shot to the right of Gugu Mendes. Ricart Futebol Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Reinaldo Teles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gugu Mendes having to interfere. In the 45th match minute, Cactos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hamílton Trigo to maneuver through the defense. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lenílson Rodrigues in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gugu Mendes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 54 minutes into the match, Reinaldo Teles had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gugu Mendes. Ricart Futebol Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reinaldo Teles was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. 57 minutes into the match, Ricart Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Lenílson Rodrigues came free, but Gugu Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ricart Futebol Clube's Breno Araújo got a free kick in the 59th minute. After some careless play in the Ricart Futebol Clube defense, Ricardinho Valle kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gugu Mendes. The Ricart Futebol Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gugu Mendes should have stopped the shot. Gugu Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenílson Rodrigues in the 65th minute of play. In the 67th minute, Simão Duarte ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Germano Bezerra was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. Gugu Mendes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Reinaldo Teles went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score. Gugu Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinaldo Teles in the 77th minute of play. After 81 played minutes Cactos got a freekick which was hit by Lenílson Rodrigues. Ricardinho Valle struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Gugu Mendes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cactos. Germano Bezerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedrinho Cardoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With his leg Germano Bezerra managed to avoid a goal in the 89thth minute, when Ricart Futebol Clube's Marquinhos Azevedo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ricart Futebol Clube's Gugu Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reinaldo Teles in the 93rd minute of play. In the 94th minute, Falcão de Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 95th minute of the match Lenílson Rodrigues shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gugu Mendes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ricart Futebol Clube players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Cactos.
