Adrianinho Sarmento started the match with the kick off. Joélson Guimarães scored 0-2 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Leonardo Camargo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. E.C. Galera's Leonardo Camargo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dário Paraibano in the 14th minute of play. 15 minutes into the game, Edu Zonta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grêmio FBPA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave E.C. Galera the free kick. Edu Zonta kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Roger Vergílio charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Osvaldinho Marquez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonso Paes in the 29th minute of the match. In the 30th minute, E.C. Galera's Afonso Paes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Osvaldinho Marquez. Osvaldinho Marquez yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. In the 34th minute Edu Zonta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonardo Camargo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonardo Camargo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edu Zonta in the 36th minute of play. After a rather tough play, E.C. Galera's Cássio Recife got a free kick in the 37th minute. The E.C. Galera players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Grêmio FBPA were winning 1-3.

The wind increased when Edu Zonta made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinho Zonta in the 59th minute of play forced E.C. Galera's goalkeeper Leonardo Camargo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonardo Camargo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edu Zonta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd match minute, Grêmio FBPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joélson Guimarães to maneuver through the defense. Osvaldinho Marquez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonso Paes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 69 played minutes E.C. Galera got a freekick which was hit by Aníbal Ceresso. With a little luck, E.C. Galera's Leonardo Camargo got control of the ball when Joélson Guimarães tried to sneak it across the goal line. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. If Bernardo Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Osvaldinho Marquez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fellipe Favoretto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dário Paraibano kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. 79 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardo Esteves came free, but Osvaldinho Marquez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joélson Guimarães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Grêmio FBPA getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Claudinho Zonta hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio FBPA's zone, Fellipe Favoretto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Osvaldinho Marquez came out of the goal and Fellipe Favoretto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when E.C. Galera was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fellipe Favoretto didn't get a good kick on the ball. 96 minutes into the game, E.C. Galera's Bernardo Esteves nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Osvaldinho Marquez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. The Grêmio FBPA players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
