The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 18th minute Cido Arósio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Natanael Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. LR Vanderslaike's supporters rose to their feet, but Cido Arósio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Natanael Queiroz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vânderson Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zeca Magalhães made a kick off. Dito Messias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Natanael Queiroz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Manuel Monteiro in the 60th minute. 63 minutes into the match, Vânderson Travassos notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of LR Vanderslaike's Germano de Godoi. Germano de Godoi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dito Messias kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. After having played for 72 minutes, Zeca Magalhães managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marília AC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zeca Magalhães was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Germano de Godoi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zeca Magalhães went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Zeca Magalhães hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute, Charles Viana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Waldir Marquez hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Marília AC had won after a very even match.
