The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Telmo Trigo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Sipo EC booed when A.A. Francana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armandinho Vergílio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in A.A. Francana's zone, Célio Cardoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Trigo came out of the goal and Célio Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cássio Viana hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Célio Cardoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Trigo having to interfere. After having played for 18 minutes, Célio Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sipo EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Célio Cardoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cássio Viana charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cássio Viana the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, A.A. Francana's Cássio Viana got a free kick in the 19th minute. Célio Cardoso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Telmo Trigo having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valdir Dracena during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 27 played minutes Sipo EC got a freekick which was hit by Valdir Dracena. With a little luck, Sipo EC's Ernani Cerezo got control of the ball when Serginho Alagoano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Telmo Trigo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tostão Maranhense in the 30th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luiz Eduardo Rodrigues during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Sipo EC booed when A.A. In the 40th minute Célio Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Telmo Trigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Célio Cardoso sped through A.A. Francana's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Telmo Trigo. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Célio Cardoso in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Telmo Trigo saved A.A. Francana from getting behind. A.A. Francana's Telmo Trigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tostão Maranhense in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Sipo EC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a rather tough play, Sipo EC's Caio de Almeida got a free kick in the 54th minute. In the 55th minute, Marquinhos Pitta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Célio Cardoso was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 61st minute. Sipo EC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Tostão Maranhense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Telmo Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Célio Cardoso in the 73rd minute of the match. Luiz Eduardo Rodrigues was shown his second yellow card after 78 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After having played for 80 minutes, Didi da Mata managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sipo EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Didi da Mata was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Célio Cardoso in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Telmo Trigo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Armandinho Vergílio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Ernani Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Armandinho Vergílio fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A.A. Francana's protests and gave Armandinho Vergílio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th minute, Armandinho Vergílio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Valdir Dracena was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 89 minutes had been played. Tostão Maranhense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Sipo EC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
