Inácio de Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Francisco Tande, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alan Rossi in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. After 30 played minutes Xapetuba Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Geovani Palmeira. Silvério Ribeiro scored 1-1 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cristóvão Souza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Francisco Tande was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Clemente Berger got free with Cristóvão Souza in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
