Juan Sorin who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Almir Diniz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Almir Diniz stood somewhat misplaced when Juan Sorin came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 21 minute. When Ronaldo Novaes came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the RWD Molenbeek fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldo Novaes couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juan Sorin in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Almir Diniz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Almir Diniz made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Carlos Alberto Viana sent off a good shot on target. 35 minutes into the game, Carlos Alberto Viana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Almir Diniz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 39th minute, Giovanni Soeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Flávio Fonseca during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Francisco Perez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Almir Diniz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juan Sorin in the 85th minute of the match. 6-1 became the score in the 86th minute when Carlos Alberto Viana elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind RWD Molenbeek's goalkeeper Almir Diniz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Almir Diniz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Juan Sorin went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 7-1 was the resulting score. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fully deserved thier win.
