Vitor José showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Perez in the 3rd minute of the match. RWD Molenbeek were awarded a corner in the 6th minute after S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vânderson Santana took the corner. When S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Ladislao Mazurkiewicz in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 28th match minute, RWD Molenbeek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabinho Simão to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd minute João Carlos Gaspar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Almir Diniz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Ladislao Mazurkiewicz in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. João Carlos Gaspar got in the 38th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Almir Diniz handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Iuri Paranaense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Giovanni Soeiro during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 47th minute Ladislao Mazurkiewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Almir Diniz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Fabinho Simão was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 47 minutes had been played. A collision led to RWD Molenbeek getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Fabinho Simão hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Through an outstanding action, after 54 minutes, Almir Diniz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Almir Diniz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislao Mazurkiewicz in the 56th minute of the match. In the 61st match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ladislao Mazurkiewicz to maneuver through the defense. If Remo Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Almir Diniz came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Ladislao Mazurkiewicz. But to his dismay, Ladislao Mazurkiewicz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the 80th match minute, RWD Molenbeek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betinho Damião to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when João Carlos Gaspar got free with Almir Diniz in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 85 minutes, Remo Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's supporters crossed their fingers, but Remo Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 88th minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Ladislao Mazurkiewicz dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. Carlos Alberto Viana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Almir Diniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
