The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Capibaribe Stars booed when Goblins F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egídio Cearense didn't get a good kick on the ball. A long shot from Nico Penha in the 3rd minute of play was well struck, but Sílvio Moraes made a really good save at the right post. 6 minutes into the match, Eliseu Toscano notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Goblins F.C.'s Sílvio Moraes. Sílvio Moraes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Oséias Rosa's late challenge caught a Capibaribe Stars's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Oséias Rosa helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th minute, Oséias Rosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adhemar Vergílio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Pedro Mendes in the 14th minute of the match. With a little luck, Goblins F.C.'s Sílvio Moraes got control of the ball when Eliseu Toscano tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 26th minute of the match Capibaribe Stars got a corner. Goblins F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nico Penha ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Capibaribe Stars's Nico Penha to fire away a dangerous shot which Sílvio Moraes despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. A collision led to Capibaribe Stars getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Luís Antunes hit a great ball. The supporters of Goblins F.C. booed when Capibaribe Stars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oséas Luz didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Pedro Mendes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliseu Toscano during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 51 played minutes Capibaribe Stars got a freekick which was hit by Eliseu Toscano. When Egídio Cearense fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Goblins F.C.'s protests and gave Egídio Cearense a yellow card for diving instead. Goblins F.C.'s Sílvio Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseu Toscano in the 54th minute of play. If Oséas Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nico Penha kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Eliseu Toscano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sílvio Moraes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. After 67 played minutes Capibaribe Stars got a freekick which was hit by Nico Penha. After a rather tough play, Capibaribe Stars's Edgar Paraíba got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Zé Pedro Mendes in the 74thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Adhemar Vergílio, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of Goblins F.C. booed when Capibaribe Stars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas de Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute, Goblins F.C.'s Bruninho Campidelis ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Adhemar Vergílio. Adhemar Vergílio yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Adhemar Vergílio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zé Pedro Mendes went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Goblins F.C. players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
