The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís Paulo da Mata was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match, Gustavo Zonta got a very nice opportunity to score, but Remo da Costa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teodoro Xavier during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 90th minute, Paulo Castro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Remo da Costa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-10. When the match was over Wellington Phoenix could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than S S Palestra Italia throughout the match.
