With a little luck, 20 DE SETEMBRO's Hélder de Queiroz got control of the ball when Enéas Brodel tried to sneak it across the goal line. João Augusto de Amaral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Hélder de Queiroz made a huge save. 13 minutes had been played when some careless play by 20 DE SETEMBRO's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Amílton Coelho was slow to take the kick. During this time XV de Piracicaba's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Dida de Barros almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but 20 DE SETEMBRO's Hélder de Queiroz did a great save. After some careless play in the XV de Piracicaba defense, Wágner Miranda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nuno Leão. The XV de Piracicaba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nuno Leão should have stopped the shot. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Claudinho Ramalho put in a rough tackle. Nuno Leão had in the 26thth minute some difficulties stopping Yuri Vieira's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 31 minutes, Amílton Coelho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the XV de Piracicaba and the 20 DE SETEMBRO players grew even worse after the yellow card. 20 DE SETEMBRO's Yuri Vieira got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 34 minutes into the game, João Augusto de Amaral cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Hélder de Queiroz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 38th minute Alessandro Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Leão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. XV de Piracicaba's Nuno Leão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wágner Miranda in the 40th minute of play. In the 42nd minute, XV de Piracicaba's João Augusto de Amaral ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hélder de Queiroz. Hélder de Queiroz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-3. After a rather tough play, 20 DE SETEMBRO's Cacá Souto got a free kick in the 45th minute. Enéas Brodel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 3-3 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Enéas Brodel to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of XV de Piracicaba booed when 20 DE SETEMBRO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yuri Vieira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, 20 DE SETEMBRO's Edinho Pitta got a free kick in the 81st minute. Hélder de Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enéas Brodel in the 82nd minute of play. In the 86th minute, Gualter Maranhense left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The XV de Piracicaba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-3. Enéas Brodel struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Hélder de Queiroz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for XV de Piracicaba. 92 minutes into the match, 20 DE SETEMBRO's goal looked a bit too open when João Augusto de Amaral came free, but Hélder de Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dida de Barros hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match.
