After 16 played minutes Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ got a freekick which was hit by Richard do Vale. 17 minutes into the match, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalkeeper Nelson Rocha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dário Schmidt. FC St. Pauli's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gil Leal in the 18th minute. A nice corner shot did that Gil Leal got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Nelson Rocha quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jacinto Munhoz in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelson Rocha saved Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ from getting behind. Hélder de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Guilherme Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute Marquinhos de Amorim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 1-0 became the score in the 39th minute when Dário Schmidt elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. A collision led to Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Hélder de Barros hit a great ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jacinto Munhoz was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Dário Schmidt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC St. Pauli fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Nelson Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacinto Munhoz, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. A collision led to Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Richard do Vale hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Richard do Vale got a free kick in the 58th minute. FC St. Pauli's Guilherme Mendonça proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save FC St. Pauli from getting a goal against them. In the 65thth minute of the game Jacinto Munhoz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Nelson Rocha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jacinto Munhoz in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Rocha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Marquinhos de Sousa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nelson Rocha was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. If Acácio Berger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Munhoz in the 80th minute of play forced Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's goalkeeper Nelson Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raí Toledo hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Marquinhos de Sousa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelson Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. Nelson Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marquinhos de Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The attack was good, but when Jacinto Munhoz in the 87th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Nelson Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacinto Munhoz in the 90th minute of play. Jacinto Munhoz scored 5-0 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nelson Rocha, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. FC St. Pauli had won after a very even match.
