But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fellipe Pimenta couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute Fellipe Pimenta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dedé da Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredão de Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Elivélton Barreto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alessandro da Rocha in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dedé da Silveira saved BEST FABIO F.C. from getting behind. After a rather tough play, BOTAFOGO's Fellipe Pimenta got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alessandro da Rocha to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Alessandro da Rocha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Elivélton Barreto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nilmar Abraão's late challenge caught a BEST FABIO F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nilmar Abraão helped the player get up and apologised. After 77 played minutes BOTAFOGO got a freekick which was hit by Nilmar Abraão. With a little luck, BEST FABIO F.C.'s Dedé da Silveira got control of the ball when Alessandro da Rocha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Elivélton Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldão Salgado in the 89th minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. BOTAFOGO walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
