The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 8 minutes, José Augusto Veiga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ypiranga FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Augusto Veiga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 14 played minutes Xandeco FC got a freekick which was hit by Waldir Gonçalves. Waldir Pontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célio Ferraz in the 15th minute of play. Dudu Vaz's late challenge caught a Ypiranga FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dudu Vaz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ypiranga FC booed when Xandeco FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dudu Vaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Ypiranga FC's José Augusto Veiga in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Breno Diniz to make the kick off. In the 56th minute of the match Sandrinho Catarinense shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ronaldão Ceresso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ronaldão Ceresso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Breno Diniz in the 60th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgílio Teixeira in the 61st minute of play forced Ypiranga FC's goalkeeper Ronaldão Ceresso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Célio Ferraz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Ypiranga FC's Edinho Queiroz got a free kick in the 65th minute. Waldir Pontes made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when José Augusto Veiga sent off a good shot on target. José Augusto Veiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Waldir Pontes made a huge save. José Augusto Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Augusto Veigas short, quick shot in the 76thth minute got Waldir Pontes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jorge Oliveira kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 86th minute by José Augusto Veiga got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. With a little luck, Xandeco FC's Waldir Pontes got control of the ball when José Augusto Veiga tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 90 minutes, Breno Diniz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Xandeco FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Breno Diniz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. José Augusto Seco made in the 95th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Adrianinho Fantini immediately put the ball in play. The supporters of Xandeco FC booed when Ypiranga FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquim Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
