Pedrão Neiva started the match with the kick off. After 3 played minutes Fala Sério FC got a freekick which was hit by Enrique Fernandes. When Edu Costa came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edu Costa couldn't finish the play. Jorginho Pena hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celsinho Xavier in the 12th minute of play forced CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's goalkeeper Ulisses de Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute, Celsinho Xavier made a precise shot to the right of Ulisses de Sousa. CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 18 minutes into the match, Mauro Meireles notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's Ulisses de Sousa. Ulisses de Sousa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Pedrão Neiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Rubens Arósio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celsinho Xavier in the 27th minute of play forced CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's goalkeeper Ulisses de Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Pedrão Neiva had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rubens Arósio. Fala Sério FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pedrão Neiva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Jorginho Pena hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Ulisses de Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celsinho Xavier, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After a rather tough play, Fala Sério FC's Celsinho Xavier got a free kick in the 40th minute. Inácio de Salles lost his temper 45 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Celsinho Xavier made a kick off. If Edu Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Edu Costa fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE's protests and gave Edu Costa a yellow card for diving instead. Edu Costa hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. After having played for 59 minutes, Mauro Meireles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fala Sério FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauro Meireles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for CUITEENSE FUTEBOL CLUBE. Ulisses de Sousa had in the 80thth minute some difficulties stopping Mauro Meireles's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 81st minute, Jorginho Pena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Pedrão Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Fala Sério FC defense, Edu Costa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rubens Arósio. The Fala Sério FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rubens Arósio should have stopped the shot.
