Francisco Pernambucano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet as Fiori de Salles kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Olavo de Sousa. That made the score 1-2 in the 14 minute of play. Olavo de Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fiori de Salles, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristóvão Linares in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Francisco Pernambucano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Wilson Pereira charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Wilson Pereira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Nova Venécia-ES booed when Palmeiras de Plantão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilson Pereira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras de Plantão's Claudinho Moura got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute, Cristóvão Linares made a precise shot to the right of Francisco Pernambucano. Palmeiras de Plantão's Francisco Pernambucano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilton Paes in the 36th minute of play. After the first half Nova Venécia-ES were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Hudson Jacinto in the 89th minute of play forced Palmeiras de Plantão's goalkeeper Francisco Pernambucano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olavo de Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fiori de Salles in the 90th minute of play. Francisco Pernambucano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gildo de Carvalho in the 92nd minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 94 minutes into the game, when Claudinho Moura put in a rough tackle. When the match was over Nova Venécia-ES could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Palmeiras de Plantão throughout the match.
