Canarinho Atordoado's Nilmar Tande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastião Paulista in the 28th minute of play. Guilherme Macedo's late challenge caught a Canarinho Atordoado's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ronaldo Pinho in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nilmar Tande prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Canarinho Atordoado's Nilmar Tande proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Canarinho Atordoado from getting a goal against them. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Telmo da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilmar Tande having to interfere. The Canarinho Atordoado fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nilmar Tande should have stopped the shot. Nilmar Tande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Pedro Dionísio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Canarinho Atordoado's Olívio Diniz got a free kick in the 71st minute.
