Elder Munhoz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Paulo Brito having to interfere. When Álvaro Negri fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Leão de Judá's protests and gave Álvaro Negri a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Leão de Judá getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. The crowd rose to their feet as Eliseu Cardoso kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Juan Vieira. That made the score 1-0 in the 39 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Fernando Almeida in the 43rd minute of play forced Leão de Judá's goalkeeper José Paulo Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Simão Nascimento in the 46thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Juan Vieira, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
