After 3 played minutes Wambalamba FC got a freekick which was hit by Adhemar da Fonseca. With an all-out effort, MAZER SAF's Naldo Mello threw himself towards the right post 5 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Paulo Renato Gonçalves, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A collision led to MAZER SAF getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Pedro Luiz Prestes hit a great ball. Naldo Mello stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Gustavo Recife's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Naldo Mello made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Héctor Hernández sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of MAZER SAF booed when Wambalamba FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Héctor Hernández notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Wambalamba FC's Naldo Mello. Naldo Mello was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Naldo Mello made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Héctor Hernández sent off a good shot on target. After 25 played minutes MAZER SAF got a freekick which was hit by Héctor Hernández. Naldo Mello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Renato Gonçalves in the 27th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Héctor Hernández in the 33rd minute of play forced Wambalamba FC's goalkeeper Naldo Mello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Gustavo Recife sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Naldo Mello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Luís Vargas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paulo Renato Gonçalves in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Naldo Mello saved Wambalamba FC from getting behind. Afonsinho Medeiros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Naldo Mello made a huge save. Naldo Mello showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Renato Gonçalves in the 45th minute of the match. In the 47th minute Claudinei Vianna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Mello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

In the 55th minute, Héctor Hernández ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Naldo Mello was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. After a defensive mix-up in Wambalamba FC's zone, Héctor Hernández stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Naldo Mello came out of the goal and Héctor Hernández tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 71 minutes into the game, Leonel Couto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wambalamba FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MAZER SAF the free kick. Leonel Couto kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. When the match clock showed 76 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Doriva Carneiro sped through Wambalamba FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Naldo Mello. With 79 minutes on the clock, Elias Marquez commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Elias Marquez hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Teodoro Arantes hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Wambalamba FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for MAZER SAF.
