The supporters of Wambalamba FC booed when Corinthians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Renato Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dinei Goiano in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Delfim Diniz saved Corinthians from getting behind. After 11 minutes Corinthians's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Dinei Goiano who took care of the corner kick. Henrique Rossi took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Naldo Mello. Naldo Mello dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dinei Goiano in the 18th minute of play forced Corinthians's goalkeeper Delfim Diniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Víktor Sarmento got free with Naldo Mello in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Walmir de Queiroz lost his temper 23 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 22 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Wambalamba FC! The goalkeeper, Naldo Mello, was totally fooled by Corinthians's Faustão Motta, who 25 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After a defensive mix-up in Corinthians's zone, Adhemar da Fonseca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Delfim Diniz came out of the goal and Adhemar da Fonseca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 29th match minute, Corinthians was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cássio Cardoso to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd minute, Hamílton Campidelis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Delfim Diniz was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Víktor Sarmento in the 35th minute of play forced Wambalamba FC's goalkeeper Naldo Mello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Víktor Sarmento could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Naldo Mello made a huge save. Hamílton Campidelis's late challenge caught a Corinthians's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hamílton Campidelis helped the player get up and apologised. In the 43rd minute, Hamílton Campidelis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Belmiro Cerezo kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Corinthians's Faustão Motta couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 47th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Wambalamba FC. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
In the 55th minute, Víktor Sarmento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Corinthians fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. After having played for 59 minutes, Adhemar da Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wambalamba FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adhemar da Fonseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Naldo Mello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Víktor Sarmento, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 65th minute Víktor Sarmento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Mello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Wambalamba FC's Leonel Couto got a free kick in the 69th minute. Naldo Mello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomás Munhoz, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. 74 minutes into the match, Gonçalo de Lara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Naldo Mello. Wambalamba FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gonçalo de Lara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Naldo Mello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henrique Rossi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Delfim Diniz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Hamílton Campidelis showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-2 in the 81 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Corinthians's zone, Hamílton Campidelis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Delfim Diniz came out of the goal and Hamílton Campidelis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adhemar da Fonseca was extremely unlucky when he, in the 87th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Gonçalo de Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Naldo Mello having to interfere. Wambalamba FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
