Zé Roberto Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christiano Baiano in the 30th minute of the match. The SE Palmeiras fans' excitement grew in the 30th match minute when SE Palmeiras's Basílio do Valle looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Basílio do Valle was the one to do the kick off. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mateus Pitta couldn't finish the play. In the 60th minute Vladimir Valadares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilson Dracena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee gave André Vinhas a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 62nd match minute, SE Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Vinhas to maneuver through the defense. After 81 minutes of play SE Palmeiras's João Vítor de Almeida was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 82 played minutes SE Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by João Vítor de Almeida. Nilson Dracena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Delfim Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vladimir Valadares blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nilson Dracena having to make a save. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SE Palmeiras walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
