The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Grêmio 20 Julho's Frank Novaes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Syd Black in the 4th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Grêmio 20 Julho's Oséas Souto got a free kick in the 6th minute. Alberto Mendonça scored 0-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Frank Novaes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 15 minutes of play, BLACK BULL's Syd Black made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Frank Novaes was left in no man's land by his defense there! Frank Novaes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romário Aparecido in the 23rd minute of the match. Kléber de Senna charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kléber de Senna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 31 minutes into the match, Grêmio 20 Julho's goal looked a bit too open when Syd Black came free, but Frank Novaes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 32nd minute Ruy Torres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Novaes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grêmio 20 Julho's Oséas Souto got his second yellow card of the match in the 33rd minute. The referee ordered Oséas Souto off the ground. After 34 played minutes Grêmio 20 Julho got a freekick which was hit by Oséas Souto. Ruy Torres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Frank Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Carlos Soeiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Grêmio 20 Julho's João Carlos Soeiro got a free kick in the 52nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Flavinho Leite during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 54th match minute, Grêmio 20 Julho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Flavinho Leite to maneuver through the defense. BLACK BULL's Waldemar Capixaba was substituted for Ruy Torres. BLACK BULL's Walmir Severo was substituted for Alberto Mendonça. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walmir Severo in the 62nd minute of play forced Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Frank Novaes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 62 played minutes Grêmio 20 Julho got a freekick which was hit by Marcel Andrade. Frank Novaes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Syd Black, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frank Novaes was a little too slow when Victor Maciel got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 73rd minute. The score was now 1-4. In the 76th minute, Grêmio 20 Julho's Beto Valle seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Beto Valle the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Grêmio 20 Julho protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Beto Valle had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 75th minute of the game. One of Grêmio 20 Julho:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of BLACK BULL:s goal. The referee gave BLACK BULL a penalty, 77 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Syd Black, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Grêmio 20 Julho's Frank Novaes. 1-5. Walmir Severo scored 1-6 in the 82nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Frank Novaes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Victor Maciel kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Marcel Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio 20 Julho's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcel Andrade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adilson Sanches breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 88 minutes, Waldemar Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BLACK BULL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Waldemar Capixaba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 89th minute, João Carlos Soeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th minute, BLACK BULL's Syd Black dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-7. Grêmio 20 Julho's Frank Novaes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio 20 Julho from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle sounded BLACK BULL left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Grêmio 20 Julho.
