Proteu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Socanelas FC the free kick. After 19 played minutes Proteu got a freekick which was hit by Bernardinho Corrêa. After a rather tough play, Proteu's Antônio Brito got a free kick in the 22nd minute. In the 23rd minute of the match, Doni Paiva got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dida Mazza was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When Doni Paiva got free in front of the goal in the 23rd minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Dida Mazza was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Dida Mazza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raphael Vargas's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Gugu Tasso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Claudinei Oliveira made a huge save. Claudinei Oliveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gugu Tasso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cléberson Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Socanelas FC's Claudinei Oliveira got control of the ball when Gugu Tasso tried to sneak it across the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Proteu players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Socanelas FC.
