Breno Novaes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Giovani de Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Portuguesa's Giovani de Amaral got control of the ball when Gustavo Duarte tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gustavo Duarte in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Giovani de Amaral prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Walmir Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Callegari's supporters rose to their feet, but Walmir Valladares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Giovani de Amaral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 23 minutes into the match, Portuguesa's goalkeeper Giovani de Amaral had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustavo Duarte. A collision led to Callegari getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Breno Novaes hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Portuguesa's zone, Gustavo Duarte stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giovani de Amaral came out of the goal and Gustavo Duarte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Giovani de Amaral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustavo Duarte in the 37th minute. A collision led to Callegari getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Ramón Paraibano hit a great ball. Giovani de Amaral made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Gustavo Duarte sent off a good shot on target. Pedro Augusto de Godoi kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Gustavo Duarte who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 44thth minute tested the skills of Giovani de Amaral when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 47thth minute of the game Gustavo Duarte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Portuguesa's Giovani de Amaral was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Júlio Pernambucano to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Duarte in the 52nd minute of play forced Portuguesa's goalkeeper Giovani de Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Callegari booed when Portuguesa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frederico Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Portuguesa's Giovani de Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo Duarte in the 78th minute of play. In the 80th minute Breno Novaes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovani de Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frederico Barbosa's late challenge caught a Callegari's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frederico Barbosa helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd match minute, Portuguesa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frederico Barbosa to maneuver through the defense. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
