The ball went over the crossbar instead. Brad Missen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jerrard Burton having to interfere. 17 minutes into the game, Elderslie Magpies's Brad Missen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jerrard Burton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 20th minute Brad Missen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerrard Burton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Southern Thrashers's goal looked a bit too open when Brad Missen came free, but Jerrard Burton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jerrard Burton came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Elderslie Magpies's Ed Howard. After 32 played minutes Elderslie Magpies got a freekick which was hit by Brad Missen. In the 35th match minute, Elderslie Magpies was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kale Mcinnis to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Elderslie Magpies's Corder Clubley got control of the ball when Broderick Grieve tried to sneak it across the goal line. Andres Curtis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Corder Clubley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Broderick Grieve was the one to do the kick off. In the 65th minute, one of Southern Thrashers:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Southern Thrashers. Ed Howard hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. 74 minutes into the match, Brad Missen notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Southern Thrashers's Jerrard Burton. Jerrard Burton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raleigh Dale got free with Jerrard Burton in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Howie Delbridge fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Southern Thrashers's protests and gave Howie Delbridge a yellow card for diving instead. Howie Delbridge kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After 86 played minutes Elderslie Magpies got a freekick which was hit by Raleigh Dale. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ed Howard in the 88th minute of play forced Southern Thrashers's goalkeeper Jerrard Burton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Southern Thrashers's Broderick Grieve in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Elderslie Magpies's goalie prevented a goal. 91 minutes in the game Mack Barker did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Raleigh Dale. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Andres Curtis during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 93rd match minute, Southern Thrashers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andres Curtis to maneuver through the defense. The Southern Thrashers supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Elderslie Magpies's performance. The match ended with a win for Elderslie Magpies.
