Obrero Barquisimeto's Gabby Lugo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Obrero Barquisimeto from getting a goal against them. Obrero Barquisimeto were furious when Burutzagi Verdaguer was red carded, 16 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Chivos de Punto Fijo's Lidon Bengoa got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Columbo Colado fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Obrero Barquisimeto's protests and gave Columbo Colado a yellow card for diving instead. Columbo Colado hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute of the match, Gabriel Gay tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gabby Lugo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raymundo Esquivel in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Martin Pasqua saved Chivos de Punto Fijo from getting behind. Chivos de Punto Fijo's Martin Pasqua played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Porfiro Virto in the 31st minute of play. When Juan José Issa fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Obrero Barquisimeto's protests and gave Juan José Issa a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Obrero Barquisimeto's Bonifacio Cainzos got a free kick in the 34th minute. After having played for 34 minutes, Lidon Bengoa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chivos de Punto Fijo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lidon Bengoa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Martin Amenedo's late challenge caught a Obrero Barquisimeto's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 47 played minutes Chivos de Punto Fijo got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel Gay. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Raymundo Esquivel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gabby Lugo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lidon Bengoa, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 59 minutes into the game, Lidon Bengoa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Gabby Lugo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Porfiro Virto struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Martin Pasqua didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Obrero Barquisimeto. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raymundo Esquivel in the 80th minute of play forced Chivos de Punto Fijo's goalkeeper Martin Pasqua to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Chivos de Punto Fijo's goal looked a bit too open when Porfiro Virto came free, but Martin Pasqua reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 84th minute Martin Amenedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabby Lugo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bortzaioriz Iturriaga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Martin Pasqua tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chivos de Punto Fijo's Jeronimo Corrales was substituted for Gabriel Gay.
