Claudio Bosso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 18th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alvise Di Palma. Urbs LC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Augusto Furia struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Alvise Di Palma didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merceron United. The supporters of Urbs LC booed when Merceron United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ermanno Mammarella didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amedeo Baciadonne scored 1-0 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alberto Giorda, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alvise Di Palma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto Furia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, Urbs LC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlo Mandelli came free, but Alvise Di Palma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mark Štrukelj could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Alberto Giorda made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Alberto Giorda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mark Štrukelj, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. In the 55th match minute, Merceron United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Abete to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute Armando Sampo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alberto Giorda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alberto Giorda was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mark Štrukelj sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Merceron United's Alberto Giorda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amedeo Baciadonne in the 91st minute of play. After some careless play in the Merceron United defense, Armin Guerriero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alberto Giorda. The Merceron United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alberto Giorda should have stopped the shot. There was no doubt that Urbs LC were the better team. Urbs LC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
